1) Definitely agree with turning the benches around. Who needs to look at the BQE??!
2) Some sort of visual barrier around the perimeter so we see less of the traffic on Hicks and the BQE. Shrubbery would be great but, until that can happen, there are other options like artificial leaves that I've seen on people's fences in the neighborhood.
I would LOVE for the ground to be the rubber flooring like they have at the Dumbo dog park under the Manhattan bridge. There are no dog parks near our neighborhood that don’t become mud pits or giant puddles once it rains
Need: Tighter fence would be great! Or just netting at the bottom. I can't bring my dog here unfortunately because he'd be able to run out very easily.
Want: some perimeter landscaping (doesn't have to be fancy), and a water foutnain
Would love: A really amazing addition would be a separate area for small dogs - but that's probably too big of an ask!
A traffic light and dedicated crosswalk to enter the park. Or at the very least a permanent stop sign. There’s a lot of traffic up Hicks and it can pose a lot of threats. I’m honestly surprised there isn’t one already with the hospital right there as well.
Cleaner surface that doesn’t have as many holes and large rocks sticking out
I heard from somebody once that their dog was able to squeeze between the posts in the fence. Might want to examine spots where smaller breeds might be able to get out

Water fountains most importantly

Replace the dirt with rubber playground flooring. This will make the park easier to clean and maintain.
Plantings around all the fences and trees to make the park more enclosed from traffic.
Add a water fountain for dogs to drink and perhaps a dog hose to wash down the dogs as well.
create an enclosed shaded area for people to sit while the dogs are playing.
perhaps this area is heated in the winter as well.
More benches (turned around) and double gates at the entry/exits so dogs can’t slip out into traffic easily!
A tub for the bigger dogs
Turn the benches around!
A water fountain like the ones in Hillside Park.
